873 Marin Road, El Sobrante, CA 94803
Jaeger Hill, his wife Karren and their two daughter, Lilli Sky and Stella Luna, are selling the home in El Sobrante they have lived in for many years to realize a new vision for their family on a walnut ranch near Clear Lake, California. They would love to have a member of their larger family become its new occupants. Sharon Goods, Jaeger’s mom, Kenoli Oleari and Elsa Marley, live 4 doors up the street.
They would like to share some pictures of and information about the home they are selling. If the pictures interest you and you are considering a new place to live in an interesting neighborhood near friends, consider coming by to take a look at the house in person.
Please spread the world to others you know who might be interested.

The house: Built in 1956, the 2595 sf (per public record) house consists of 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and is situated on a 0.25 acre lot with large undeveloped terraces suitable for gardens, large play area, detached studio or other use.
The house has a spacious feeling with views of trees and beyond from several rooms and a large redwood deck, recently re-built by Jaeger, a master craftsman. The house has recently received $100,000 of improvements, including fully refinished hardwood floors, re-built deck, improvements to bathrooms and bedrooms, fully re-painted interior and exterior, and more.
In addition to the main floor living area, there is a downstairs level with beautiful re-finished mahogany floors, full bath, large common space, and bedroom. The unit has direct access from the main floor as well as a separate entrance accessed through a beautifully crafted gate built by Jaeger with key coded lock to street. The unit is fully finished and plumbed for water, gas and electricity in a way that makes it easily convertable into a separate studio apartment, teenage living space, separate office space or a place to provide bodywork, counseling or other services.
Solar (photovoltaic) Panels: The house has a xx kilowatt photovoltaic system that generates most of the electrical needs of the house. The owner of the house will hold full title to the panels, related electrical generating equipment and all the electricity the system produces. Pictures are provided below.
Bonus Space: The house includes 400 SF of separately accessible storage space. This space has finished walls, a sink and counter, lighting and could be used for storage, laundry, workshop or other purposes.
Location and transportation:
El Sobrante, meaning, in English, “the remainder,” is an unincorporated area of Contra Costa County adjacent to Pinole with easy access to I-80, close to the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. It is within easy commute distance of Orinda, Berkeley/Oakland, San Francisco and Marin County. The drive through the natural areas surrounding San Pablo Dam to the Lafayette/Orinda area as well as Oakland/Berkeley is one of the best kept commute secrets of the East Bay.
There is easy access from El Sobrante to extensive natural areas, foot and bike trails, the Bay Trail, the extensive Point Pinole Bayside Park, Tilden Park, Kennedy Grove and other open spaces. El Sobrante has recent roots as a rural community.
Our Friendly (and interesting) Block: Marin Road is a short cul-de-sac adjacent to 20 acres of open space comprised of the headwaters of Garrity Creek. These headwaters were recently purchased by Wild and Raddish, LLC (http://www.wildandradish.com/) who will operate a sustainable urban farm on the parcel that will include 2000 fruit trees, other elements of sustainable urban agriculture and a home for 20 odd young people who will operate the farm.
Marin Road is a quiet street with minimal traffic. The neighbors are a mixed bag of interesting folks, including artists, musicians, fisherman, mechanics, retirees and other friendly people, including Sharon Goods, Kenoli Oleari and Elsa Marley. We’d love to have others from our extended Free Family as new neighbors.
